At Active Pet, we are dedicated to keeping everyone as healthy as possible. Due to the recent outbreak of Coronavirus Covid-19 we have looked into ways that we, as a clinic, can do our bit to slow/halt the spread of infection.

If you are coming for an appointment please may we ask you to remain in your car with your pet until we come out to collect you. If you would prefer to wait in your car while your pet has their treatment this would be ideal. Waiting in the car while your pet has their treatment will then ensure that traffic in and out of the clinic building is minimised. This will then decrease the risk of disease transmission between us and you – it is pretty difficult to remember to keep touching surfaces to a minimum!

If you are happy to wait in your car while your pet has their treatment then do bring a book to read…or pop your feet up and enjoy a little peace and quiet. If you’d prefer to come into the clinic with your pet then no problem, but we would ask you not to touch any surfaces (including the front door) until you have washed your hands. We have popped some information on handwashing in the bathroom and will be listening to make sure you are singing ‘Happy Birthday’ twice while you do so. No one’s singing can be worse than Philippa’s so don’t be shy!

At the moment it is not certain how long Coronavirus lasts on surfaces. While your pet is having their treatment we will do all the hard work for you with regards to treats, putting harnesses on and off and drying them if they have had hydrotherapy. The current advice is that a one metre (3 feet) distance is ideal to avoid spread of the virus from coughs and sneezes.

We will be regularly cleaning to reduce any Coronavirus lurking on surfaces. To stop lots of people touching the credit card machine we can put your card number directly into the machine thus negating the need for you to touch the pinpad or we can take payment over the telephone if you have chosen to wait in your car.

If you are feeling even a little under the weather then please do let us know and we will reschedule your appointment (no charge).

We will do our best in these challenging and unknown times to keep the clinic running as we appreciate that some of our patients need to have regular visits to keep them comfortable. Do bear with us while we try to adapt to our new protocols as we might not be as slick and smooth as normal. If anything changes then we will let you know as soon as possible. If you have any questions then please do get in touch. You can phone on 01494 725968 or email us at mypet@activepet.co.uk

Thank you for your understanding, let’s hope this all resolves as quickly as possible and life can get back to normal again.

With best wishes,

Philippa and the Team at Active Pet.
